CCA Registry Clarification

The CCA, since its inception, has planned on developing a registry for Cockapoos and it has been so indicated on the Website. A registry is primarily valued for its ability to prove purebred AKC registered stock for the first generation hybrid and the later development of multigenerational breeding to a standard, which will result in a new breed of purebred dog. It is also an antecedent to shows which are also in the plans.

The "official" Cockapoo registry, will attempt to be inclusive of the diversity of breeders in existence at the present time. It will be developed by a special study group reporting to the Board of Directors.  The parameters will not be one individual's decision, nor will it be a private, profit making endeavor.

Additionally, there already exists a registry that admits Cockapoos: The Continental Kennel Club. This registry is not highly regarded as they do not have a viable standard, do not appear to be interested in the breed development and have no prospects for shows.

The Cockapoo Club of America does not support, personal, profit making, registries created by individuals, such as the North American Cockapoo Registry, which are contrary to the goals and high standards of the CCA.
